Relaunch of an iconic handle

A classic handle that can last a lifetime

&SHUFL is launching a collaboration with the Danish architect and designer Knud Holscher and the design company d line. Knud Holscher is one of the great masters of Danish design, known for his prize-winning industrial designs developed under the motto “modest design, designed to last.” In 1971 he designed a streamlined bar handle for d line.

We are relaunching the handle in new colors that bring the past and present together, uniting the bold, colorful universe that &SHUFLs is known for with Knud Holscher’s classic design. It’s a look that’s classic and contemporary at the same time. The colors are curated by &SHUFLs with inspiration from Bauhaus and from the design spirit of the 70s and 80s.

This new handle can be used in combination with all of &SHUFLs collections or on an existing kitchen that needs renewal.

Knud Holscher – the master of simplicity

“The kitchen is very central. It’s where the family gathers and the day’s highlights often happen…” says Knud Holscher. About the handle, he says, “It is solved with fantastic craftsmanship.”

Colors and materials

The handle is available exclusively at &SHUFL, which has curated three new colors – red, blue, and mint – as a tribute to the Bauhaus period. In addition, the handle is available in black and white powder-coated steel, and in three classic materials: brushed steel, brass, and copper.

With the bold color palette, the handles can be a striking design element in the kitchen, or you can choose the more understated metals and let them play a elegant, subtle role.

The copper handles are a beautiful choice for our new collection Core, which you can read more about here.

The classic bar handle

Knud Holscher designed the classic bar handle in its original version with a thickness of 14 mm and a length of 125 mm. We are relaunching the handle with a length of 128 mm, which is a standard width for bar handles today. That means you should be able to replace your old handles and conceal the screw-holes with this handle, freshening up your existing kitchen. But we suggest that you measure your current handles before you order here.

Take back

&SHUFL is committed to being a leader in the kitchen industry when it comes to creating a sustainable future. A little step on the way is our take-back system for these handles. That means that you can return or exchange your handles for another color for a fee, and at some point you will be able to purchase restored handles that other customers have returned. This will create a circular system in which handles never have to be destroyed.
